Good Girl

The title seemed accurate
at least from the outside
A puzzle piece forced to fit

A life lived cleanly
No major scandal
No hidden disgrace
Saying right things
Doing right things

But this idea of good
is not God's idea of good
As different
as Goodwill
from Christian Dior

By His standards
my good utterly fails
For with my eyes
I lusted
committing adultery
In my heart
I hated my brother
committing murder
With my blessings
I robbed God
With my tongue
 I set fires

I am a common sinner
Though loathe to admit
the murderer on death row
is not so different from me
The thief, my brother

But for grace

The only real good
found in me?
His name is Jesus
