Letters to God #32

The voice is so loud
So very loud
The violence of the verbal assault
roars in my ears
until it becomes my own

Yet always I search
for that still quiet voice
The Truth

Sometimes that quiet easily conquers the noise
Sometimes I strain to catch its' whisper
Others the abuse rings echoes in my mind
so that I can't hear anything else
and I curl my body as armor around my soul

But I keep searching for Your voice
Continuing my hopeful defiance
in the face of lies
Truth is my anchor
even in the storms
especially in the storms
